This guide puts together eleven RedotPay help center articles dated 23 July to 9 September 2026 (one shows no date), which we read on 2026-10-27. Anything marked as our reading or our arithmetic is ours, not RedotPay's. Procedures and fees change, so check the app before you start a dispute.
How do I cancel a subscription charged to my RedotPay card?
RedotPay's article on cancelling subscriptions (23 July 2026) says subscriptions are managed directly by the merchant, that RedotPay cannot cancel one on your behalf, and that you should sign in to your account with the merchant and follow its instructions or contact the merchant's customer support. Its article on avoiding declined payments adds that when you stop using a service you should remove your card details from the merchant's site, not just from RedotPay, and that you should review your active subscriptions regularly. If a free trial has just renewed, its article on charges you did not make (27 July 2026) says to log in to the merchant's account and remove your card before the next billing date.
What happens to my subscriptions if I freeze or delete my card?
Merchants with saved card details, RedotPay's declined-payments article says, "will continue to charge you automatically". If the card is frozen, lost, deleted or expired, or has insufficient funds at the time of the charge, the transaction is declined "and a fee may apply". The fraud article (27 July 2026) repeats this when it tells you to freeze the card: cancel any subscriptions linked to the card with the merchant first, otherwise you may see failed charges and possible fees once it is frozen. The security settings article (24 July 2026) adds that while a card is frozen some declined payment fees may still apply.
The amount of that fee is in RedotPay's fee table, which we read in full in our guide to RedotPay card fees and limits: the first 3 declined transactions per card each month are free and each one after that costs 0.50 USD. Our reading: a retired subscription that retries daily could pass the free three within a week and then cost 0.50 USD per attempt, which is why RedotPay's advice is to cancel with the merchant before freezing.
How do I stop a subscription payment failing for lack of balance?
RedotPay says your card is declined if your balance does not cover the payment including network and processing fees, so keep a buffer: paying exactly 100 USD with exactly 100 USD in the account may not be enough. Its low balance alerts article (23 July 2026) gives the steps: open the app, go to Profile, then Payment settings, tap Low balance alert, turn it on, set your limit and tap Save. When the balance falls below that amount you get an app notification and an email.
I see a charge I do not recognize. What could it be?
RedotPay's article on unrecognized charges (27 July 2026) says most turn out to be legitimate and lists three common explanations: a settlement adjustment (a foreign-currency payment can end up slightly different from the amount you saw at checkout because of exchange rates), a recurring charge on a different date than you expected, and a pending authorization (a temporary hold placed before the final amount). The charges you did not make article suggests five checks in order: look at the merchant name in the transaction details, check whether a free trial renewed, check whether family or friends you shared the card with made it, contact the merchant if you recognize it but it looks wrong, and treat it as unauthorized only after ruling those out.
Why is the charge higher than what I bought?
According to the article on higher-than-expected charges (27 July 2026), some merchants place a temporary hold above the final price in case the amount rises: hotels and car rentals for extras such as room service or fuel, restaurants for an estimated tip, gas stations, and ticketing services for price changes. The hold is usually adjusted to the actual spend once the transaction is finalized. Our reading: this is the same thing as the "pending authorization" in the previous section.
How long does a refund take?
RedotPay credits a refund to your account once it receives it from the merchant. The article on higher charges gives the timing: if the merchant has processed a refund, the funds reach your RedotPay account within 2 to 15 days of RedotPay receiving it, and if the merchant has not, the merchant typically processes refunds automatically within 30 to 40 days. For a refund you are owed on a subscription or a recognized merchant, the articles' first step is to contact the merchant and ask. We have not found a RedotPay statement of how long the 2 to 15 days is counted from beyond "once we receive it".
What should I do if my card is charged fraudulently?
The fraud article lists four steps: freeze the card at once (Card, then Freeze); check your transaction history, remembering that an unfamiliar charge is sometimes a forgotten subscription or a merchant listed under another name, and contact a merchant you recognize to report the charge and ask for a refund; request a chargeback if the merchant cannot resolve it; and if charges continue after freezing, delete the card (Card, then Settings, then Delete card). It also says never to share your full card number, expiry date and CVV, or enter them on sites you do not trust. Our frozen card guide covers what freezes a card and why a payment fails when the card is active.
When can I dispute a card payment, and what does it cost?
RedotPay's dispute article (9 September 2026) says disputes are sent to the relevant card network, which decides the outcome based on the transaction details and your evidence; a positive result is not guaranteed, it may take months, and RedotPay itself does not decide it. It names three situations: fraud or unauthorized transactions (made by someone else without your knowledge or permission), consumer disputes (goods or services not provided or not delivered as agreed, or a refund owed but not given), and failed ATM withdrawals (no cash dispensed but your account was charged and you could not resolve it with the bank). The routes differ:
| Route | How it starts | Fee RedotPay lists | Time RedotPay gives |
|---|---|---|---|
| Reporting a fraudulent or unauthorized transaction | Select the transaction in the app, tap the help icon (?), tap Report fraud | No fee listed | Usually around 1 to 3 months |
| Consumer dispute (goods or services not received, refund not given) | Support confirms eligibility, you complete the dispute form with evidence | 50 USD per transaction, paid upfront once the case is confirmed as eligible | Usually around 3 to 6 months, longer for complex cases |
| Failed ATM withdrawal (no cash dispensed but charged) | Contact Support to confirm eligibility first | 50 USD per transaction, as above | Usually around 3 to 6 months |
| Pre-arbitration (an extra review round some cases enter) | You choose whether to continue | 700 USD per transaction, separate from the first fee; refunded if the chargeback succeeds | Not stated |
The article says these are generally not treated as fraud: a subscription or automatic renewal you authorized; a family member, friend or anyone else using the card with your permission; and a transaction verified with a PIN, 3D Secure, fingerprint, face recognition, Apple Pay or Google Pay. Our arithmetic: because the consumer-dispute fee is 50 USD per transaction, it is larger than a typical monthly subscription charge, which is worth weighing before you pay it for a small amount. The article does not say whether the 50 USD is refunded if the case succeeds; it says only that the 700 USD pre-arbitration fee is.
What do I need to prepare for a chargeback?
RedotPay says you will generally be asked for the transaction details (transaction ID, date, amount, and merchant name or ATM bank name); your registered email, full name and billing address; the last 4 digits and expiry date of the card; the reason for your dispute; records of your attempts to contact the merchant or bank; supporting evidence such as receipts, invoices, tracking information and refund records; a statement or transaction history showing the transaction; a timeline of what happened in order; and a police report or affidavit if applicable. After submission the merchant or its bank may challenge the chargeback with their own evidence. RedotPay asks that everything you submit is true, accurate and complete.
Why was my payment declined with no record in the app?
The article on declines with no record (27 July 2026) says that if a payment is stopped on the merchant's side, RedotPay never receives the request, so it will not appear in your transaction history, and you should contact the merchant's support team for the exact reason. As long as the card is active (not frozen or temporarily locked) it should work elsewhere. RedotPay's article on game credits (24 July 2026) adds that some gaming platforms have their own payment rules and do not accept this type of card for in-game purchases; it suggests checking the decline reason in the app and trying another payment method that the platform supports.
What we could not verify
- Whether reporting fraud costs anything: the dispute article lists a fee for consumer disputes and failed ATM withdrawals and none for fraud reports, but does not say fraud reports are free.
- Whether the 50 USD chargeback fee is refunded when a case succeeds. The article says so only for the 700 USD pre-arbitration fee.
- What makes a case "eligible", and how much time you have after a charge to start a dispute.
- How a dispute over a subscription charged after you cancelled is classed. The article treats authorized renewals as generally not fraud, and lists "refund you haven't received" as a consumer dispute.
- Whether the decline fee applies to every declined retry from a cancelled subscription, or only to the ones the card network reports as declined.
- When the "2 to 15 days" for a refund starts counting, and whether it differs by country.
- Whether the 1 to 3 month and 3 to 6 month timelines are measured from submission to the card network or from your first report.
